Salzburg Exhibition and Congress Centre was awarded the ‘Green Meetings and Green Events’ Ecolabel by Austrian Environment Minister Rupprechter
The Ecolabel was awarded to several enterprises for their exemplary practices in the field of eco-friendliness at the ministry responsible for an Austria worth living in – in Vienna.
“These enterprises all combine ecologically sustainable business activities with commercial success. They stand for environmentally friendly practices, high standards, and commitment to pro-ecological action that far exceeds minimum statutory requirements”, explained Andrä Rupprechter during the award ceremony. Two colleagues responsible for project implementation, Michaela Strasser and Sabine Haberl, received the award on behalf of Salzburg Exhibition and Congress Centre.
In what seems like record time – just seven months – hall 1 of the Salzburg Exhibition & Congress Center complex has been completely renovated and is now ready to impress with the very latest standards of building infrastructure at the ‘Classic Expo’ classic car show due to start at the weekend.
Approximately 27 years after the centre opened, the owners of der Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH are now completely refurbishing hall no.1, the accompanying entrance area and connected upper floor.
Hall 1 at Salzburg Exhibition & Congress Center is the oldest facility in a complex of 10 halls and the Salzburgarena. Priority has been given to the urgently required updating of the building’s technical infrastructure within a wider process of modernisation.
This process is crucial to maintaining the venue’s extreme popularity as a stage for exhibitions, congresses and events. One of the central aims of renovation is to guarantee that ‘multifunctionality’ really does refer to a facility equipped for, and which can be adapted to, a comprehensive array of events.
Since September 1, 2015 Michael Wagner (47) has been the new managing director of the Messezentrum Salzburg venue. After a series of national and international posts, the Austrian is now returning to Salzburg. His last position was regional director for business and industry south / director development sports & leisure at Sodexo.
