"Barrier-free Tip" of the city of Salzburg in October: Messezentrum Salzburg

The expo complex was designed to consider access for people with various degrees of disability. Roads, concourses and entrances are all more or less on one level, with no steps to be navigated to reach access points. The meeting rooms on the first floor can be easily reached in a number of lifts.

„Barrier-free accessibility is of particular importance to us at Salzburg Exhibition and Congress Centre. It’s something we do our utmost to ensure by installing new infrastructure, and by refitting and upgrading around the entire venue“ says Managing Director Michael Wagner.

Staff from the venue and responsible persons from other external bodies are instructed to provide well-informed advice to guests with special needs. Such information may include how to get to the disabled-friendly lift or to request provision of a Eurokey for the toilets at the information desk.

„In accordance with our corporate philosophy, we provide for a diversity of requirements at the venue. We are well aware of our duty to respect the needs of our visitors and exhibitors, which demands the continual implementation of new initiatives and measures“, continues Michael Wagner.

There are also plenty of parking spaces for guests with a restricted degree of mobility. They are situated right outside the entrances at P1, P5, P7 and P8.

The team at Salzburg Exhibition and Congress Centre is in a constant and highly-constructive dialogue with the city of Salzburg’s municipal advisory committee for disability issues – and with the responsible Disabilities Officer, Sabine Neusuess. A regular annual tour of the facility is part of the agreed joint strategy to ensure specific and ongoing improvements at the venue!
