On the 7th December 2003, the Vienna Philhamonic Orchestra, conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt, played a concert of classical music to an audience packed with celebrities to mark the opening of the Salzburgarena.
Almost exactly 15 years later the event venue is ready to celebrate the anniversary in style! This time, instead of purely classical music, it will be with a fitting evolutionary programme of broader classical music and performance development. To mark its own 20th year, the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra invites guests to enjoy a concert and the subsequent anniversary celebrations.
The story of two lines of development and a shared celebration!
Under the artistic directorship of Elisabeth Fuchs, the Salzburg Philharmonic is celebrating the anniversary of its establishment with a uniquely sophisticated and varied musical event. “Under the banner of ‘THE NEXT LEVEL!’ visitors can look forward to live performances of Dvorak’s ‘New World Symphony’, Beethoven’s 7th symphony, Game of Thrones, Pirates of the Caribbean – complemented by Cirque de la Nuit, 2 DJs a wide range of acrobats. URBANATIX from Bochum in Germany are to generate a collective pulse with a dynamic crossover performance featuring parkour, free running, dance, bike tricks and innovative motion art”, explained Elisabeth Fuchs looking forward to the anniversary concert! “We have seen that the Salzburgarena is the ideal venue for such an event.”
Michael Wagner, Managing Director at Messezentrum Salzburg GmbH is very pleased with the ongoing development of the highly-acclaimed event facility: “The Salzburgarena is a very popular multifunctional venue and is readily booked by clients from far beyond the borders of the region. Hundreds of artists, shows and comedians from a whole range of genres have already been welcomed on this stage. Every year, a total audience of around 100,000 attends the many shows and concerts here!” It would be wonderful to hear the classical music repertoire of the Salzburg Philharmonic in the concert hall even more often. “We are honoured the Salzburg Philharmonic has chosen to celebrate its anniversary at our venue and it is our pleasure to roll out the red carpet. On behalf of the venue it is my pleasure to encourage these guests to consider transforming an individual event into a regular series of engagements”, Michael Wagner enthused.
The Salzburgarena venue with its striking wooden dome is popular with both event organisers and visitors to the venue – and not only due to its attractive architecture and adaptable infrastructure. It’s pretty much a master of all trades: In just a few weeks the arena will be able to demonstrate that it’s an ideal for sporting events such as Davis Cup tennis, the international Karate 1 tournament - Series A, Masters of Dirt and European Company Sport Games, as well as being predestined for all kinds of stage shows, concerts, and for open air performances in the outdoor area outside the hall.
